Everything you need to know about getting your scuba certification!
This PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main things. Academic work, confined water sessions, and open water dives. All three pieces, certification fees and rental gear are included in the cost of the course. The only thing not included is personal gear; mask, snorkel, boots and fins. We have a package deal for new students to purchase all these things in our store where we can custom fit you for all the differetn sizes, features and colors.
Academics
The academics portion is now online, giving you the freedom to learn all about scuba diving at your own pace, from the comfort of your home. You will receieve access to this at the start of the class.
Confined Water
The confined water portion is completed over the course of five pool sessions completed on Tuesday evenings. Each pool sessions will be a hands on experience of what is learned in the online academics.
Open Water
Open water dives take place in Lake George over the course of a weekend. You will complete four full scuba dives and then be officially certified! If you are registered for one of our fall/winter sessions, these open water dives will be held till June when the lake is warm enough. If you are trip planned before then, you can do a referral for your open water dives.
Last thing to know before signing up
Prerequisites
The minimum age for PADI Open Water scuba certification is 10 years old and everyone must be able to swim. We will have you complete swim and float test at the first pool session.
Medical Clearance
Every participant in a scuba certification course is required to fill out a medical statement that screens for conditions that may affect the safety of diving. Any “yes” answer doesn’t mean you cant dive, but we will require approval from your doctor prior to the start of class. You can download the form below.
